Physiologic leaf spot susceptibility has a strong genetic basis. In the field it affects only selected wheat cultivars. Many cultivars are not susceptibile and will not exhibit lesion symptoms even under low Cl status conditions. Cultivars which are known to be susceptible to physiologic leaf spot are listed below. Other susceptible cultivars exist but have not been demonstrated in controlled field or greenhouse conditions.
